Nampa — Ronald Dee Cudney, age 85, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025.

Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and steady presence touched the lives of all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen Sue Cudney, who passed away on April 21, 2008.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Army from May 1960 to May 1964, where he was honorably discharged. His dedication and integrity in service were qualities that continued throughout his life.

Following his military service, Ron worked for Kennecott in Ruth, Nevada, until 1976, when he moved to Utah and began his long career with Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 2001 after many years of hard work and commitment. Upon retirement, Ron returned to Ely, Nevada, with his wife, Karen, where he enjoyed his later years before moving to Nampa, Idaho, to live with his daughter Elizabeth.

Ron is survived by his children: Theresa Herrera (Paul), Elizabeth Darcy (Sean), James Cudney (Cindy), and Veronica Nelson; his siblings Robert Cudney, Gloria King, and Merry Brown; his grandchildren Brandi Herrera, Paul Herrera, Sean Leifeste, Tara Rice, Liam Darcy, Eoin Darcy, Aidan Darcy, Kevin Cudney, RJ Cudney, Karen Cudney, Emily Cudney, Liberty Carter, and Orion Nelson; and many great-grandchildren.

Ron will be remembered for his deep love of family, his quiet strength, and his generous heart. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the memories his loved ones will forever cherish.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Once arrangements are finalized, family and friends will be invited to gather in celebration of Ron’s life.
