Carey D. Deachin

December 18, 1952 — November 7, 2025
Carey D. Deachin lost his battle to cancer in the comfort of his home on November 7, 2025. He was born in Bad Axe, MI on December 18, 1952, to Susan Tschirhart (Glaza) and Robert Deachin. He married Betty Lackowski on April 28, 1973.
Carey graduated from Ubly High School in 1971 before attending General Motors Institute to pursue Automotive Engineering. In November 1972, he was drafted into the Army to serve in the Vietnam War. Thankfully he was stationed in Korea, followed by Florida, Germany, and finally Ogden, UT where he retired as Chief Warrant Officer after “21 years, 7 months, 22 days.”
Carey received his Bachelors degree in Computer Programming from Weber State University and began a career at L3 Communications in SLC.
He enjoyed spending his free time fishing, hunting, playing cards and, most of all, golfing. He golfed on the L3 Communications Work League and also played in the El Monte GC League for over 25 years. After he retired, he and Betty spent much of their free time golfing together.
Carey is survived by his wife, Betty Deachin (Lackowski); children, David (Trisha) Deachin, Ryan Deachin, and Brittany (Brad) Curtis; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Friends visit with family on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Funeral Mass will be held to honor Carey on Tuesday, November 18th, at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Blvd., Ogden. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
