Meredith — HONOR H. ARNSTEIN

Beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Her warmth and compassion remain her legacy.

MEREDITH — There is no easy way to say goodbye to someone like Honor Arnstein. After her unexpected passing at 68, due to complications following heart surgery, we choose to honor her by remembering the warmth she brought into our lives and by sharing the stories that keep her close to our heart.

Honor was cherished for her genuine care and empathy, qualities that made nursing a natural calling. She earned degrees from Weber State, the University of Utah, and Plymouth State, began her career at Primary Children’s Hospital in 1978, and retired from Harvard Medical in 2021. She cared for every patient with respect, intelligence, and heart.

Born in the Philippines to Diosdado and Amelia Hernandez, Honor (“Ate Honor” to her siblings) lived a life distinguished by her integrity and grace. She loved tennis, crafting, gardening, cheering on her Boston teams, and especially cooking Filipino food. Her home was a place of comfort, where everyone was welcomed, fed, and made to feel at ease. Her culinary creations became legends among Eric and Cody’s friends, inspiring dreams of “Honor’s Smoothie Boat” and constant requests for her secret recipes.

Her unending concern for Paul to stop “cleaning the forest,” voiced with passion and her signature “I mean it!,” remains one of the many memories that makes us smile.

So, we end with that sentiment: Honor, we love you. We miss you. We mean it!

She is survived by her husband, Paul; sons Eric (Caroline Nolan) and Cody; beloved granddaughters Maeve and Ayla; her siblings; extended family; and many friends who will carry on her legacy of love and compassion.
