Scott C. Russell

Nov 21, 2025

I was born November 6, 1946 to Clair F. and Donna T. Russell in Ogden, Utah. I have a brother Dann J. Russell four years my younger. I was educated in the Ogden School District, graduating from Ogden High in 1965. It was the largest class to graduate at that time. I enjoyed a good life and loved rock and roll music, collecting writing pens, hunting, golf, and fishing with friends, especially with my brother at Bridger Lake. I attended Weber State University, graduating in 1969 in Business Management and Economics. I met my wife and we dated all through college. I enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving for six years on active duty and in the Army Reserve. I was in an artillery unit and a supply platoon. I received the National Service Medal from the Army. After returning from active duty, I married Penny Nichols in the Logan LDS Temple on July 22, 1970. We have two great children, Brandon Scott Russell (Melanie) and Megan Durbin Schmit (Dennis). I finished my military service with an honorable discharge and went into banking at First Security Bank. I enjoyed my banking career for 38 plus years. I was a bank manager and area manager, supervising many great employees and serving the best customers in the world. I tried to give 110% to each of these. I served in the Ogden Lions Club, and its various committees, as treasurer for the Weber County March of Dimes, and I was a member of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce. I taught school for the American Institute of Banking, serving on its board of directors. I taught banking courses and I enjoyed this! I had the opportunity of serving eight years on the North Ogden City Council and enjoyed serving my community. I was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a counselor in a bishopric, an assistant scoutmaster, High Priest group leader, and executive secretary, plus teaching church classes. I have a testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer. I was preceded in death by my loving wife, Penny N. Russell, my mother and father, and my wife’s parents Keith E. and Pauline Nichols and a son-in-law, Scott Durbin. I am survived by my son and daughter. A grandson Kade, granddaughter Shianne, three great grandchildren, and many friends and family. A graveside service will be held at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, 600 E. 2850 N. North Ogden on Tuesday, November 25th at 11 am. A viewing will be held on Monday from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday from 9:15-10:15 am at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, UT.

In lieu of flowers, I would suggest a donation to the North Ogden 22nd Ward Missionary fund or General Missionary Fund of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
