Paul Melvin Gauchat
Paul Melvin Gauchat, born November 29, 1941, in Oakland, California, passed away on November 20, 2025. He was in his home in Huntsville Utah, surrounded by the love of his family. Paul spent most of his life in Huntsville Utah, where his family had homesteaded. He also enjoyed a farm in Star Valley Wyoming that he loved to spend time and went camping in the many surrounding places. He was a dedicated husband to his wife, Jette Gauchat, whom he married on June 2, 1963. Their love spanned over six decades, filled with joy, and shared experiences.
Paul was a supervisor by profession and spent many years working diligently for the Weber county parks and recreation. He ran Memorial Park from 1970 to 1994 and later worked at the Weber County Fairgrounds and Ice Skating Rink until his retirement in 1997. Outside of work, Paul was an avid outdoorsman with a love for the mountains and hunting. His passion for rodeo, bronco and bull riding, and team roping was evident from his youth. He was a man of all trades, skilled in welding and farm equipment repair.
He was also a member of the Weber County Sherriff’s Mounted Posse and rode in the Paint Line. His love for horses remained a constant throughout his life, even when he was no longer able to ride.
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Jette of Huntsville Ut, his son Casey (Lei Lani) Huntsville Ut, and their daughter, Holly Beck Harrisville Ut. He also leaves 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren that loved and adored him. In fact, they are wondering when they need to move pipe and haul hay next. He also is survived by his sister Bobie Famie of Concord Ca. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Gauchat, and mother, Verna Bailey Gauchat. His son in-law, Tyler Smith, also preceded him in death.
To Celebrate his life, we invite all that want to accompany him on his last ride, to meet at Huntsville Park Saturday November 29th , 2025. We will meet at 12:45 and the John Deer tractor and wagon will proceed at 1:00 to take him to his final resting place at Huntsville Cemetery. (located 5600 East 100 South Huntsville, Ut) There we will have a graveside service to honor his life.
