Steve Arthur Trease
July 25, 1944 - November 17, 2025
Steve Arthur Trease, age 81, of Washington, Utah, passed away peacefully at home on November 17, 2025, with his loved ones by his side.
Born with a kind heart and a quiet strength, Steve was loved by all who knew him. Though our hearts ache, we find comfort in knowing he now rests in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, reunited with his beloved wife, Karl Ann Trease. He is free.
Steve was born on July 25, 1944, in Preston, Idaho, to John William Trease and Sarah Van Orden Trease. At age 15, he lost his older brother, Jay William (“Bill”) Trease, a loss that shaped him deeply. Steve stepped into the large shoes Bill left behind, taking on his brother’s role at the shop owned and operated by his brother Dan and Dan’s wife, Nedra. With Dan’s guidance and encouragement, Steve found purpose and direction during a very difficult time and continued working there for many years.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Trease Ross, in 2015. He is survived by four brothers and one sister.
On November 27, 1962, Steve married the love of his life, Karl Ann Eppley. They were later sealed in the Ogden Temple on September 1, 1990. She preceded him in death on July 4, 2021, and for the next 1,597 days, he missed her with a depth that only true and lasting love can hold.
Steve was a devoted husband, a loving dad, and a cherished grandpa and great-grandpa. His legacy lives on in his two children, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren — each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, Steve proudly served his country, spending his service years in Germany. His dedication and integrity were clear in everything he did. After a life-altering injury on March 17, 1987, he courageously changed course and built a successful career as an entrepreneur.
Known for his gentle spirit, playful humor, and generosity, Steve had a remarkable way of making everyone feel welcome and valued. His warmth and kindness will forever leave an imprint on his family, friends, and community.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Hooper Cultural Hall, 6150 W. 5600 S., Hooper, Utah. There will be a gathering prior to the service from 11:45-12:00. All who knew Steve are invited to honor him by sharing stories, laughter, and love — just as he shared so freely with all of us.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Steve will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Karl Ann following the service.
