Noel Scholes Schvaneveldt

Colonel (Retired) Noel Scholes Schvaneveldt passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home. He was born on Christmas Eve in Logan, Utah, to Melvin and Sarah Jane Schvaneveldt, and grew up on a Cache Valley farm where he learned the value of hard work. He married his sweetheart, Margaret Ann Cragun, in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they raised a large family and shared a life of service.

Noel was commissioned in 1956 and served 29 years in the U.S. Army with assignments around the world. He completed four master’s degrees, including from the U.S. Army War College and BYU, and earned awards such as the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star. After retirement, he worked in education, business, and community service. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many callings and missions with Margaret. He is survived by his brother Wesley, eight children, 29 grandchildren, and 48 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Kent, brother Alan and sisters Jane and Harriett. The family wishes to thank Pineview Transitional Care, George E. Wahlen Veterans Home, IHC Palliative Care, Bristol Hospice, and Northview Ambulance Services for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the General Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah. The funeral service will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 11 am at the North Ogden 5th Ward, 626 East 2600 North, North Ogden, Utah.
