Billie Fae Sloan Christensen

Oct 6, 2025

North Ogden – Billie Fae Sloan Christensen, 90, passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 30, 2025. As she spent her final hours surrounded by family and friends there was pure love, joy, laughter, and music in the room. Billie was born November 28, 1934 in Ratliff, Mississippi to Morgan Senter Sloan and Halsie Fae Hinds Sloan. She married Joseph Phillip Christensen on August 6, 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Billie earned her Bachelor of Science from the School of Education at Mississippi State University. Her first teaching job post-graduation took her to Smyrna, Georgia and then to Denver, Colorado. She met her husband Phil Christensen while teaching in Denver. After being married they moved to Roy, Utah. In Utah, she began her teaching career at Sunset Junior High School and then she later spent the majority of her career teaching English to junior high students at North Ogden Junior High. Most students would say she had a passion for excellent grammar and vocabulary skills, sentence structure, prepositional phrases, pronunciation, and critical thinking. Mrs. Christensen made it very clear that you were not allowed to chew gum in her classroom. As a student you knew it was in your best interest to not be caught with gum in your mouth. Billie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was baptized at the age of 41 and later endowed in the Bountiful temple in 2012. Billie enjoyed reading, shopping, going out to dinner, watching movies, music, and spending time with friends and family. She loved traveling to Arizona to spend time with her beautiful granddaughters and to watch them sing, dance, and be silly. Survivors include son Sloan P. Christensen and wife Kristin Evans Christensen of Phoenix, Arizona. Granddaughters Elle Sloan, Sadie Rae, and Finlee Rose. Daughter Shannon Christensen and wife Jenny Hipwell of West Point, Utah. Nephew Bo Sloan and wife Holly of Ethel, Arkansas. Nephew Jonathan Morgan Sloan of Tupelo, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph Phillip Christensen, her brother Tommy Ray Sloan, her sister-n-law Phyllis Kidd Sloan, and her nephew Christopher Bradley “Brad” Sloan. Billie spent the last year of her life in the Memory Care Unit at Creekside Senior Living in Bountiful, Utah. Our family will forever be grateful for the care and support she received from the caring staff at Creekside and her hospice aids (Hailey Tsutsui and Tuesday Anton). Our family would like to express sincere gratitude to her loving and compassionate hospice aid Hailey Tsutsui. Billie loved and adored Hailey. Billie trusted Hailey to make her look good…and we all know…Billie loved looking good. Hailey spent several hours by Billie’s side laughing together, listening to music, and enjoying each other’s company. Not only did Hailey comfort Billie, she was the greatest strength and support to our family as well. A viewing will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and October 11, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Boulevard, Ogden, Utah. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah. For those of you who knew Billie you know she loved to wear anything and everything purple.
