Cherri Elaine Oenes

Cherri Elaine Oenes, a loving wife, mother, grandma, great grandma, and friend, departed from us on October 3, 2025, just two weeks shy of her 79th birthday. Leaving a world that needed more of her humor, thoughtfulness, and indomitable spirit. Her vibrant personality and infectious laughter had the power to light up any room, making her an unforgettable presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
Cherri’s life was a testament to her love for family, friends, and fun times. On November 5, 1970 Cherri married her soulmate, Pete. Together they raised their three beautiful children. She was a dedicated tax examiner for the IRS for 30 years, showing her impeccable attention to detail and strong work ethic. Even after her retirement, she continued to show her zest for life through her passion for camping, golfing, and shopping at her favorite store, TJ Maxx. An active member of the East Canyon Resort, Cherri reveled in spending her summers camping there, creating unforgettable memories surrounded by the beauty of nature. But what mattered most to Cherri were the simple pleasures in life: the company of her family and friends, a good laugh, and ensuring her hair and nails were always perfectly styled.
Survived by her loving husband Pete, her son Bret, her daughter Staci (Bryan), grandchildren and great grandchildren. Cherri also leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will continue to inspire those who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Arline Larsen, and her son, Rick. Cherri’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. As poet Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel,” and Cherri certainly made everyone feel special and loved.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Elk’s Lodge. 1875 W 5200 S Roy, UT 84067. Cash bar will be available and kids are welcomed.
