Lyle James Johnston, 81, of Hooper, Utah completed his earthly mission surrounded by family on October 10, 2025. He was born on April 5, 1944 to Genevieve and James Johnston in Hooper, Utah.

He attended old Weber High school and Weber State on a football scholarship. He played 2 years at Weber State then continued his career with the Omaha Mustangs, Toronto Rifles, Kansas City Chiefs, and LA Rams.

Lyle worked at IRS as a criminal investigator while running his family’s pig farm.

He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was a scoutmaster for over a decade. He served 3 Agricultural Farm Service missions in Texas.

He enjoyed his family, friends, farming, fishing, and softball where he created many lifelong friends and lasting memories. Lyle was honored with his 30-year letter jacket for his participation in the Huntsman’s World Senior Games.

Lyle is survived by his wife Christie Johnston, children Criss (Kim) Johnston, Jason (Rita) Johnston, Angie (Craig) Morrow, sister Margie (Brent) Zaugg, and 7 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Genevieve and James Johnston.

The viewing will be held on Friday October 17, 2025 from 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S 1900 W Roy, UT. Saturday October 18, 2025 from 9-10:45 am. Funeral services will begin at 11 am at the Hooper Chapel 5601 S 6100 W Hooper UT 84315.

Interment will be at the Hooper Cemetery.
