Silverthorne — Andrew Shaum Brewer passed away on August 23, 2025, in Lakewood, Colorado. Born on March 17, 1964, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Andy spent the last 25 years in Silverthorne, Colorado, where he was beloved by many close friends.
Andy was a force of nature, a professional snowboarder and competitive freestyle skier who transformed the sports he loved. As a pioneer in snowboarding, his fearless spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence were evident in every run down the mountain. Andy didn’t just carve through fresh powder; he painted masterpieces with his movements, turning the slopes into his canvas. Beyond the snow, his passion for skateboarding led him to build a half-pipe in his backyard with friends, creating a remarkable meeting place for all to share in his joy and friendship. Andy also had a profound love for the outdoors, enjoying golf, fly fishing, and hunting with his brothers and friends. His warmth and generosity left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His sobriety over the last 10 years was an example to all who loved him. The outpouring of support from friends and loved ones is a testament to the impact he had on so many lives.
He is lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Susan; brothers David (Sherrie) and Jon (Sheri); sisters Laura Young and Nancy (Rob) Sparrer, and many admiring nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph West Brewer Jr. and Carol Jean Shaum Brewer, and his brother, Joseph West “Jose” Brewer.
