Donald Blane Hansen

Apr 3, 2026

May 19, 1943 — March 27, 2026

On March 27, 2026, the saddest goodbye was said as Donald Blane Hansen, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, took his last breath at home, surrounded by the love of his family.

Donald was born in Ogden, Utah on May 19, 1943, son of Madeline LaVern Galt and Wendell Paul Hansen. He leaves knowing he had a good life, a loving family, and meaningful opportunities. His childhood was remarkable–full of mischief and adventure, and his memories will be fondly remembered by those he shared them with.

Donald met his wife, Nancy, during their elementary school years. From that time on, they never knew life without one another. They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 10, 1965, and celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past December.

He was a devoted father to his three children, Shellie, Brady, and Amber. He loved them deeply and took great pride in each of them. He was actively involved in their lives, supported their education and careers, and found immense joy in cheering them on in all they pursued.

He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply, and they adored him. He will be remembered for grandparent days, playful wrestling, and his gift for making everything fun. He was always present in their lives and rarely missed an important moment. His greatest joy–and theirs–was found in the time they shared together.

Donald graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor’s Degree before pursuing a career in banking and finance, helping others. He retired from Wells Fargo, formerly First Security Bank, and was recognized with many awards for his outstanding achievements and years of service.

After retirement he enjoyed working at the Ogden City Courts and the Weber County Public Sport Shooting Complex. He was handpicked to be the trustee of the Weber County Sheriff’s Foundation and was still serving at the time of his passing.

Although his professional career was in banking, his true passion was law enforcement, which he dedicated much of his life to. Inspired from a young age, it was in his blood. He served as an Ogden City Police Officer and later continued his service as a reserve officer. He went on to establish and serve as Commander of the Weber County Sheriff’s Reserves. Additionally, he made a lasting impact as founder, Chairman, and President of Business Leaders Against Organized Crime (BLOC).

He spent his life serving others, always behind the scenes making things happen. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings. He was a man of few words but left an impact on all those fortunate enough to know him.

Those who passed before welcomed him with open arms, including his parents and sister, Carol. Donald is survived by his wife, Nancy Lee Spencer Hansen; his three children, Shellie (Ed) Welch, Brady (Miyuki) Hansen, and Amber Hansen; his grandchildren, Blake (Halee) Welch, Carlie (Vance) Jackson, Braxton (Laura) Welch, Cole Hone, Haven (Braxton) Holland, and Jake Hansen; and six great-grandchildren, Addilee, Benson, Quincy, Dresden, Lincoln, and Rory.

Our lives will not be the same without him and a part of our hearts went with him. We love you Grandpa, Don, Dad.
