Carrol Jones Dandoy

Apr 14, 2026

October 8, 1951 — April 10, 2026

Carrol Jones Dandoy passed away on April 10th, 2026, at the age of 74. She passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones, after a sudden and courageous fight with cancer.

Born October 8th, 1951, in Logan, Utah, to parents Aileen Bingham Jones and Richard Monson Jones. Carrol spent her early years in Tooele, Utah, later relocating to Ron Claire in Ogden, Utah, where she met her lifelong friends, known as the Ron Claire girls. She attended Ben Lomond High School, graduating in 1969. She later went on to meet her first husband, Gary Mizar, at the age of 19, with whom she had her two beloved children, Vanessa and Brandon, before they divorced. Later in April, of 1986 she met and married the love of her life and eternal companion, Robert Eugene Dandoy, and was later sealed to him for all eternity in the Ogden temple. From the ashes of their previous lives and through hard work together, they went on to build a beautiful and rich life together full of success, happiness, and prosperity.

Carrol spent over 30 years working on Hill Air Force base, eventually retiring as a GS-12 in the ICBM organization as a program manager. After experiencing the “joys” of retirement (for those who knew her well know why that’s funny), she returned to work working for a government contractor, until finally retiring in the spring of 2016 for good. Carrol also spent her later years in a foundational and very supportive role for her husband Bob’s political endeavors, during his tenure as a city councilman for the city of Roy, and later as Mayor.

Carrol had a very rich and active social life up until her final days. A quote from her lifelong friends of several years describes her as follows “the best of the best, caring, kind, passionate, one tough lady, and loved her family more than anything, we were grateful to know her”. Her daughter is quoted as saying “anyone that knew her probably thought she was their best friend” Carrol, had regular lunch dates going back with people for years and years. Carrol was involved in many hobbies and clubs, including card club, a regular bunko game, and book club. But her favorite activity of all was playing with her grandchildren. She loved anything outdoors including camping, fishing, boating, four wheeling, and snowmobiling. Carrol was also a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held callings as the Relief Society president, a leader in the young women’s organization, and in the Primary presidency. She loved everyone she served in those roles and cherished her service to them.

Anyone who knew Carrol also knew her deep love and affection for animals, so much so that she kept a deaf and blind dog alive for years, feeding it specialized food, administering eye drops, and waking up several times in the night to tend to her. But that’s just the kind of person she was she couldn’t have helped doing it any other way. It’s difficult to sum up the life of someone so loved that lived a life as fulfilling and rich as Carrol’s in so few words. If we can focus on a few points, please remember this about her. Carrol was kind, generous, attentive, focused, devout in her faith, a great friend, and animal lover. The most important central tenet of her life, if you ask anybody who knew her, was that she loved her family with every fiber of her being and soul and she did everything possible during her time on earth to show and express that love.

Carrol is preceded in death by parents, Richard and Aileen Jones; siblings, Johnny R. Jones, Richard L. Jones, Juanita J. Miller and stepson, Matthew B. Dandoy. She is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Vanessa (Paul) Wilson, Brandon Mizar, Chris (Becca) Dandoy, Jenny Dandoy, and Michelle Olsen; siblings, Lewis B. (Debbie) Jones, and Luella (Paul) Sottosanti. She has several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
