Galen Eugene Jensen

Apr 21, 2026

Galen Eugene Jensen, age 91, passed away peacefully on April 15th, leaving behind a legacy rooted in deep faith, a rugged love for the outdoors, and an unwavering devotion to his family.

Born in 1934 in Salem, Idaho, Galen was a man of quiet resilience. He navigated nearly a century in an imperfect body that often made movement a challenge, yet he never let physical limitations define his spirit or dampen his love for adventure. He was a master of the natural world–a successful hunter, a patient hunting instructor, and a gifted dog trainer who was rarely seen without a dog by his side.

Galen was most at home under the open sky. He had a legendary talent for selecting the perfect camping spot, ensuring his family was always surrounded by the beauty of the wilderness. He spent his life teaching his five children the skills he cherished: how to fish, hunt, shoot, and ride motorbikes. Family and friends will fondly remember his resourcefulness and the famous jerky he cured in his repurposed old refrigerator–a true testament to his ingenuity.

Above all, Galen’s life was guided by his strong faith in God. He was a man who lived his values and found his greatest fulfillment in his family and the outdoor traditions he passed on to them.
