LaWanna Bell
LaWanna Bell, affectionately known as Bella or Nanny, was born on December 26th, 1949, in Ogden, Utah. She peacefully passed away and returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 19, 2026. Bestowed with an infectious laughter and a heart larger than life itself, LaWanna had a magnetic presence that was impossible to ignore. She was a compassionate, funny, loving and supportive soul who made the world a better place with her radiant smile and positivity. LaWanna’s life was a life filled with warmth, love, and an unwavering dedication to her family and faith.
LaWanna was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her faith was a cornerstone in her life. She dedicated her time and effort in serving the church in various capacities, and even served a mission to Martin’s Cove Wyoming in 2010 with her beloved husband, Richard. Her commitment to the church was a testament to her deep-rooted faith and her belief in God’s plan for eternal families. Professionally, LaWanna was a Computer Analyst at HAFB in Ogden, Utah, where she served with dedication for 35 years before retiring in 2004. Despite not having typical degrees, she achieved a successful life through her hard work, diligence and perseverance.
LaWanna’s love for the outdoors was evident in her hobbies, which included skiing, camping, hiking, and ceramics. Her favorite place was the mountains, and she found immense joy in exploring the natural beauty of the world. But her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. LaWanna is remembered as a devoted mother who, above all, prioritized her family and her Savior. She is survived by her children, Tony Owens (Marie), Bridgette Burnett (Bart), Bryan Owens (Tryna), Stephanie Taggart, Ally Russell (Dusten), Mike Bell, Jeff Bell (Shimber), and Matt Bell (Kristi); her siblings, Steve Bishop, Randy Bishop, and Linda DuPuis. Her loving 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one she will be sending shortly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Bell; her parents, Charles and Martha Bishop; her son, Steven Cory Owens; her twin sister, LaRue Kendall; sister-in-law, Denise Bishop; and her nephews, Troy Kendall and Blaine Morton.
LaWanna’s life was a testament to the power of faith, the beauty of family, and the joy of laughter. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she loved and those who loved her. LaWanna’s services will be held on Thursday, April 23rd, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with her viewing held prior to her service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. She will be laid to rest next to her sweetheart at Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch: 1718 E Combe Road, South Ogden, Utah.
