Bruce Stoner
November 21, 1945 – April 7, 2026
Bruce Albert Stoner, 80, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in his lifelong home of Brigham City, Utah.
He was born on November 21, 1945, to Albert R. and Helen Ann Booth Stoner in Brigham City, Utah. Bruce graduated from Box Elder High School in 1964 before beginning a long career in construction. He spent his early years with R.C. Tolman Construction in Centerville building water systems. Bruce spent most of his working career for Jack B. Parson Companies, working the gravel pit as a front-end loader and heavy equipment operator. He then moved on to driving a concrete truck, every customer lit up when they saw Bruce was the concrete driver. From there he moved on to oversee the batch plant in Brigham. All the drivers were always excited to see Bruce when getting another load. You were always met with banter and name calling. That’s how you knew Bruce liked you: if he met you with a half-smile and an insult or a cuss word. Many of Bruce’s closest friends were those he worked with. Bruce retired in 2008.
Beyond his career, Bruce was a fixture in the antique community. He maintained the family business, Olden Daze Antiques, following the passing of his mother and ran it with his best friend Jodie, until the day he passed. For him, the joy was in the art of the deal. He loved haggling and considered himself a tough negotiator. He had an eye for the quirky or unique. He has close friends across the country because of his ventures in antiques. His favorite were guns. He loved collecting guns and took pride in owning or trading some of the rarest guns in the country.
If you didn’t know Bruce well, you may have thought him to be an ornery person, and that’s what he wanted you to think. But if you got to know him at all, you would quickly learn he was as soft and kind as they come! He fiercely loved his family. In many ways, he put his own life on hold to be an exceptional caregiver to his mother every day until she died at the age of 91. Bruce was also a godparent to many puppies, and a lover of yard sales and antique shows. Since his retirement, he enjoyed escaping the Utah cold at his condo in Las Vegas.
He will be remembered as the kindest mean person you have ever met, someone who was uniquely loyal to the ones he loved, and for his quiet generosity, including countless acts that only the recipients will ever know about. He’d tell his friends “Be a Good Kid” whether they were old or young.
He is survived by his best friend in life, Jodie Olsen, who was like a brother, his nieces- Melissa (Eric) Holmstead and Stacy (Cody) Richards, and his sister- Ann Ashcraft.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Stan (Arlene) Stoner.
