Neal entered the world on August 24, 1931, born to Charles and Elda Williams. He grew up in Mills, America, raised beneath the majestic guard of Mount Nebo, graduating from Juab High School. His childhood, in the shadow of the mountains, sparked a lifelong love for the outdoors. He grew into a man who loved to hunt, fish, hike, and explore every corner of the earth.

As the oldest of nine children, he learned self-discipline, fortitude and the virtues of being dependable and prompt. Neal served honorably in the marines, graduating top from his Aviation Mechanics class during the Korean War. After his service, he went on to graduate from Utah State University with a degree in civil engineering. He dedicated over 35 years of service to Thiokol, working hard to provide a beautiful life for his family.

Neal shared his adventures with his greatest love and wife, Patsy. They were married on September 20, 1957 in the Logan LDS temple. He was a devoted father to his six children. He could often be found playing outdoors with his kids and neighbors and acting like a kid himself. He taught them– by example–how to climb mountains…to the top, no matter how steep.

Together, Neal and Patsy traveled the globe, eventually standing on all seven continents from Australia to Alaska. Whether he was at the top of Machu Picchu’s highest peak (at age 82) or taking a group fishing in the Uintas, Neal, with his family, lived a life of laughter and love while enjoying the beauties of the earth.

An avid sportsman, Neal kept both his mind and body in great shape. He was proficient at ping-pong, racquetball, skiing and daily crossword puzzles. He devoured thousands of books and played countless card games over his lifetime. His love for sports ran deep; he was a fierce fan who missed very few Utah Jazz or Boston Red Sox games. He even named a son Ted Williams after the great Red Sox legend. The Red Sox won every game the week of his passing, highlighted by a thirteen inning win on the evening he crossed home base.

Neal was a devoted, active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. With Patsy, he spent 11 years dedicated to serving a mission at the Ogden Bishops’ Storehouse. He served faithfully in several bishoprics and as a stake extraction specialist. Patsy and his faith were his anchors.

Neal is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy; his six children, Kristie Williams, Sheri Schmoldt, Laurie (Darwin) Nielsen, Ted Williams, Casey (Sandi) Williams, and Jennie (Scott) Bingham; siblings Arlo and Steve Williams and sister Fae Christensen; and a large family of 27 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren (with one on the way) who will forever look to the mountains and remember his joyful spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack, Orin, Leon and Glen Williams and sister Phyllis Bowman.

Funeral services will follow on Friday August 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Pleasant View 8th ward chapel, 250 West Elberta Drive, Pleasant View, UT with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:30.
