Thomas Tosh ODell
July 31, 1985 – August 11, 2026
The Lord has seen Tosh’s earthly struggle of addiction and took him into his loving arms on August 11, 2026, giving him freedom, peace, and serenity. This was just two days before he would have celebrated his 8 month sobriety. He was born on July 31, 1985 to Thomas L and Lauriann ODell who were blessed to guide him on this earthly journey until his return home. He was the oldest of two other brothers Ryan and Jordon. Tosh welcomed each of them and was always willing to give up his favorite toys to make them happy.
He grew up in Ogden attended H-Guy Child Elementary, and South Ogden Jr High. Tosh was involved in all sports, baseball, basketball, soccer and football. Football was his favorite. His favorite team was the San Francisco 49ers which he would defend and bet on with his heart and not his head, which I think lead to some bad results. His high school years were spent overseas when his parents served a four year permanent change of station to Okinawa Japan. He graduated from Kadena High School in 2003. He learned to drive on the left side of the road, as this is the normal driving in Japan. He thought that was weird and funny. Prior to his return to Utah he worked on a Marine base as a lifeguard. He enjoyed his time in Okinawa which are cherished memories. He spent some time in Las Vegas where he and his brother grew closer and shared many memories.
His careers included working at Hill AFB as a lifeguard and a Maintenance Mechanic. He also worked many other construction jobs but his heart and joy was driving semi-truck. He earned his CDL license in March of 2023. He drove semi-truck for several trucking companies but he really enjoyed working for NEXT.
In 2007, he welcomed his daughter (Luxalai Skye) with his first love which they was very happy to have been blessed with. He chose the name Sky. Unfortunately, this was the beginning of his addiction that he battled. He once said the rise and fall of Tosh ODell. This included his success and failures. His addiction cost him many job opportunities and many cherished relationships, but he kept fighting completing several treatment programs. Tosh loved the one at Valley Camp and most recently Goldensteps. He had a great love for his higher power he called Jesus Christ. He had many sobriety brothers and sisters that he loved and they loved him. Tosh was that guy that would be first to introduce himself followed by a hug to any new comers in AA or anyone he should meet. He was a hugger which, one time, was not well received. He was always there if anyone needed help without asking. His voice to all that are struggling with addiction, is to get treatment and don’t ever think your drug use will someday not take your life! Reach out for help, as this is something you should never do alone.
Tosh loved green Chile, he told his mom and dad “we need to get 5 bushels to freeze for the winter cuz I love it.” Sadly I guess now mom and dad will only freeze 2 bushels. Tosh loved to golf in the summer and snowboard in the winter whenever he could, which I don’t think was as often as he would have liked. He was very competitive, in golf he wanted to beat his younger brother but the closest he came was a tie. He enjoyed going on cruises and camping in Montana with his family. He also enjoyed spending time with his on/off girlfriend 3+ years, he never gave up convincing her that they were meant to be together. He would greet his niece with a huge hug and swing her around telling her “she gave the best hugs!”.
Tosh had a beautiful smile, and his kindness to everyone will be missed by all who knew him. He truly was a child at heart, and his laugh would warm up the room. We love you, and our hearts are broken, but we know you are now free from the struggles of this earthly life and is now in peace and serenity with our Father at home, where we all are striving to be. You’re not far because we carry you in our hearts and memories.
He is now with his loved ones that preceded him in death his Pa Jose Salazar, grandma Irene ODell Ball, uncle Todd Salazar, cousins Todd (TJ) Salazar and Daniel Shaw and great-grandparents Hilo and Francis Montano.
The family that he leaves behind is his father and mother, Thomas and Lauri ODell, brothers Ryan ODell and Jordon (Keiley) ODell, niece and nephew Izzy and Luka, daughter Luxa ODell, grandmother Bernie Salazar, and his special great-aunts Nellie, Jenny, and many other Aunts and Uncles.
