Vaunda Rae Kranendonk Russell

Aug 17, 2026

March 5, 1936 ~ August 12, 2026

Vaunda Rae Kranendonk Russell, 90, of South Ogden, UT, passed away peacefully at her home on August 12, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, cherished mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. Her presence is deeply missed.

She was born on March 5, 1936, in Uintah and raised in Ogden. We all have fond memories of her mother, Dora Combe Chapman and Grandpa Doc. Mom married our father, Marvin, and together they started and ran Public Beauty Supply for over 30 years.

She was an active and devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding various callings including den mother, Primary teacher, visiting teacher, librarian, and compassionate service leader. She was devoted to being a disciple of the Savior in all she did.

Mom loved singing and would often sing as she answered the door, “Here I come to save the day.” She loved flower gardening, decorating for holidays, shopping, making ceramics, doing word searches, and baking. We have sweet remembrances of the table being filled with her cookies for the neighborhood, and her love for making banana bread. She also loved watching murder mysteries and true crime documentaries, holding her baby grandchildren, and anything and everything milk chocolate. Above all, she treasured her family with all her heart and spent a lifetime loving, caring, and serving them.

She had exceptional style, a radiant smile, was resilient, hardworking, resourceful, and had such a zest for life. These attributes were complemented by her grace, patience, and extraordinary empathy and kindness to all. She was incredibly beautiful inside and out.

Our mother’s legacy includes nine children, Roxanne Russell, Randy Russell, Ron (Coleen) Russell, Rochelle (Dave) Richins, Rhonda (Tony) Swapp, Robyn (Mike) Butterfield, Rick Russell, Rod (Faye) Russell, and Raeni (Aran) Bailey; as well as 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild on the way. She is survived by her sister, Thelda Shiffler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Russell; daughter, Roxanne; son, Rick; her parents; a baby brother; and her sisters, Rhea (John) Boyce, Carla Albright, and Lila (Gayland) Smith; and brother-in-law, Albert Shiffler.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Uintah Cemetery, 1500 East 6450 South.

As a family, we express deep gratitude to Inspiration Hospice, including Rachel Salehi, Alisha Miller, Alisha Richins, and all those involved in her care to make her life better and more enriched as she prepared for the next step in her eternal journey.
