In Loving Memory of Susan Valine Henderson February 14, 1946 – August 22, 2026 Susan Valine Henderson, 80, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on August 22, 2026. She was born on February 14, 1946, the Day of Love. From the very beginning, her life seemed to reflect the meaning of the day on which she was born. Love was at the heart of everything Susan did. Susan was born to John R. Henderson and Luella Thompson Henderson in Ogden, Utah where she spent her entire life in the community she loved. She attended Mound Fort and graduated from Ben Lomond High School. Susan devoted her life to serving others. She worked for 28 years on the cleaning crew at the Ogden Utah Temple, a place she dearly loved. Her work may have been humble in title, but to Susan, serving in the temple was a privilege and an expression of her deep love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Her love for children was a defining part of her life. Susan provided daycare in her home and cared for and loved so many children. For 40 years, she served as a nursery teacher in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The children knew they were loved when they were with Susan, and generations of them still carry that love with them. For the past decade she volunteered at Heritage Elementary where she was affectionately known as “Grandma Susan.” As a teacher’s aide, she helped children learn to read, complete their daily tasks, and, perhaps most importantly, believe in themselves. She was looking forward to school starting again soon. She previously worked as a bus monitor for First Student for three years helping with preschool children get to and from school. Susan was a fun-loving, positive, and joyful person. She was always ready to play a game, laugh, or simply have a good time with the people around her. She supported her family in all their endeavors and celebrated their accomplishments as though they were her own. She loved crocheting, all things Disney, spending time with family, and making memories. She was a member of the Daughter’s of Utah Pioneers and loved to spend time in the family home in Spring City, Utah surrounded by memories of early ancestors. Susan was a two-time cancer survivor. Through the difficult trials she faced, she remained remarkably positive and relied on her faith for comfort and healing. Above all, Susan loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, her family, the temple, and children. She spent her life serving, encouraging, teaching, hugging, laughing, and loving. She didn’t simply tell people they mattered–she made them feel that they mattered. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and two nephews, Heath Lee and Thomas Kort Henderson. She is survived by her sister, Lynda L. Henderson; her big brother, Karl J. Henderson (Linda L. Henderson); her little brother, Gary D. Henderson (Sherry Henderson); and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives were touched by her kindness. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Ogden River Ward located at 373 15th Street, Ogden, Utah. On Saturday, August 29th, 2026, a viewing will take place at the same location from 10:00-11:30 am with the funeral services immediately following from 12:00-1:30 pm. Internment will be at Lindquist Washington Memorial Park.
