Bobby Wallace Colvin
August 15, 1931 – February 3, 2026
Ogden/St. George — Bobby Wallace Colvin beloved son, brother, dad, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa, teacher mentor and friend passed away February 3, 2026. He was 94 years old. Bobby was born on August 15, 1931, the second son of Alvin Francis and Mary Edith Barker Colvin.
Bobby grew up on his family’s much cherished, fondly remembered Middle Fork ranch in Eden, Utah. Ranch life taught Bobby the value of hard work. He became a mini rancher, cattle wrangler, cow milker, skilled cowboy, and a gentle horse whisperer. At the age of 15, he became an Ogden City boy. In later life, Bobby dreamt of returning to the ranch that he loved.
Bobby was educated in the Weber County School District. He attended Valley Elementary, Riverdale Junior High and graduated from Weber High School. While in high school he became proficient in athletics and his greatest love was track. Bobby excelled and won many medals. He attended Weber College, BYU and received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Utah State University.
Bobby served an LDS mission to Northern California and served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
The day after he returned from his LDS mission, Bobby met the love of his life Marilyn Ruth Brown Colvin. They met at the bus stop on 25th St and Washington Boulevard and were married in the Logan LDS Temple June 6,1956. They lived 60 happy and beautiful years of marriage until Marilyn’s death in 2016. Bobby and Marilyn were blessed with 5 children whom they loved deeply and were very proud of. They are Suzanne (Erich) Colvin Bachmann, Brett J (Natalie Scott) Colvin, Robert A Colvin (Suzanne), Matthew G Colvin (Ronnie Esquivel), and Andrew L Colvin (Trase Taggart). Bobby is survived by four of his children, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and brother Gary (Joan) Colvin. He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn, son Andrew L Colvin, brother Don F Colvin and granddaughter Alix J Colvin.
Bobby was a lifelong teacher. He taught at Roy, Wahlquist and North Ogden Junior High Schools. The majority of his teaching career was dedicated to North High .Most of his teaching years were spent at North Ogden Junior High. He was the department head of history and geography. As “Mr. Colvin,” he influenced the lives of young students and was commonly referred to as the “favorite teacher”. During his years at North Ogden, Bobby was a track coach and cross-country coach. He loved running so much that during those years he also established the first North Ogden Cherry days 5k race and continued as chairman for the next 5 years. After retiring from teaching, he worked for the United States Government and was able to travel to many historic places.
Bobby was an avid exerciser who ran every day and in later years, rode his bicycle and walked daily. He loved genealogy and loved to help others by volunteering at the Family History Center.
Most importantly, Bobby loved his family. Dad took care of us and was always there. Dad was a source of positivity, happiness, and light. He was calm in every life storm, a voice of reason, and a source of wisdom and guidance. Dad was a gentle, kind force that we will always carry with us. It was our honor to take care of him in his later years. Many thanks to all his loved ones who showed him love, compassion, and patience.
Bobby will be interred next to his beloved Marilyn. The family will hold a celebration of life later this spring. Dad, we love you so much. You will be greatly missed.
