Gloria Nelson Neeley
Gloria Nelson Neeley, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in North Ogden, Utah at the age of 87. She was born on July 19, 1938, in her childhood home in Spanish Fork, Utah to her parents Rulon Hans Nelson and Ann Sumsion Nelson. She enjoyed a carefree, happy childhood as the fourth child of five, working and playing on the family farm. At the young age of eight, her father passed away, leaving Gloria’s mother to raise five children on her own. After almost 80 years apart, we know Gloria and her parents are now enjoying a wonderful reunion.
Gloria met her sweetheart, David Neeley, on a blind date when she was fourteen and he was fifteen. That first date blossomed into a lifelong love affair. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on August 23, 1957, and have continued their love affair for 69 years.
While Gloria held jobs throughout her life, her true calling was her home and family. She was a master at creating a sanctuary of love, peace, and faith for her husband, children, and anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her maternal heart extended far beyond her biological family, offering comfort and guidance to many children and adults over the years.
David’s career with the U.S. Forest Service took the family to many different places, each resulting in cherished lifelong friendships. Their final chapter brought them to North Ogden, where they resided for 40 years. Regardless of the location, Gloria’s home remained a constant pillar of generosity and faith.
Gloria has been reunited with her parents, sister, Lois Ann Tolboe, and two grandsons, Douglas Paul Monson and Michael Jay Griffin, who were all waiting to greet her on the other side. She is survived by her devoted husband, David Mitchell Neeley, her three brothers, Rulon, Reed, and James Nelson, and eight children, Charlotte (Milan Jay) Griffin, Kayle (Becky), Janell (James) Burgon, JoAnn (Andrew) Hedges, Suzanne (Kenneth) Butler, Shauna (Tye) Hoffmann, Karen (Michael) Swenson, and Jenny (Jeremy) Dopp. Her remarkable legacy will live on through her 36 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren, with more on the way.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the entire staff of Spring Gardens North Ogden and A-Plus Hospice (especially Shalee and McKenna) for their extra special loving care.
Most especially, Gloria’s children wish to honor and thank their father, who devoted himself for more than a decade to lovingly care for their mother, placing her needs before his own and surrounding her with steadfast love, patience, and dignity.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 575 East 3100 North, in North Ogden, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
