Margie Carol Garrett-Neal

Feb 18, 2026

Margie Carol Garrett-Neal, lovingly known as “Nano,” was born on March 23, 1944, in Russellville, Alabama. One of five children born to Mack and Helen Garrett, she lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to shine through all who knew and loved her.

In August 1962, Margie married Rodney LeGrande Neal, beginning a lifelong journey rooted in family and devotion. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her siblings — Willard (Joan) Garrett of Michigan, Judy (Gary) Wing of Michigan, Gary (Diane) Garrett of Michigan, and Larry (Leslie) Garrett of Michigan — and a grandson.

She is survived by her three children: Chris Levon Neal (Jamie), Craig LeGrande Neal (Stacey), and Denise (Neal) Hernandez (Rudy Hernandez III). Her legacy continues through her nine grandchildren — Garret Neal (Maryann), Zach Mendelkow, Mackenzie Esplin (Brandon), Jeremy Esplin (Brooke), Kelsie Iman, Shanae Neal (Jet), Adam Neal (Liz), Lexus Hernandez (Steve), and Rudy Hernandez IV — and through thirteen cherished great-grandchildren.

Beyond her work outside the home, Margie was happiest surrounded by family and friends. Camping and hunting trips were made unforgettable by her laughter, warmth, and cooking. She had a gift for turning ordinary moments into treasured memories. Anyone who met Margie loved her instantly. She carried herself with kindness and grace, never speaking ill of others and treating everyone with compassion. To many, she was truly an angel on Earth — someone whose presence brought comfort, joy, and light.

The family extends special love and appreciation to Mackenzie Esplin, her oldest granddaughter, for living in the home and caring for Margie’s every need as both a devoted caregiver and beloved grandchild. They also offer heartfelt thanks to hospice — especially nurse Melissa Smith and the CNA team — for the love, care, and compassion shown to Margie and her family.

Margie’s best friend of 75 years — friends since kindergarten — came for a month to visit, bringing joy, uplifting energy, and comfort. She sang with Nano, held her close, and helped rekindle cherished memories of youth. The family is deeply grateful to Pat Smigels for her love and presence.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on March 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Barn, 3785 Green Farm Way, West Haven, Utah 84401. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honor

Margie’s beautiful life and lasting legacy.

Her life will be celebrated not only in remembrance, but in every story shared, every meal cooked with love, and every gathering filled with laughter — just as she would have wanted. Her spirit lives on in the family she nurtured and the hearts she touched. We will always remember — and laugh — about the “special beans” and campfire memories.

Thank you for the love, the memories, and for making us better people by having you in our lives. You will be deeply missed.
