On January 2, 2026, Louie Clara Quayle Parkinson passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Clara was born June 17, 1939, in St. Anthony Idaho the fourth of ten children born to Louie Severe and Thomas Henry Quayle.

She attended Lincoln and Central Elementary and graduated from South Fremont High in 1957. She then attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where she met her husband.

Clara married Byron LeRoy Parkinson on August 5, 1960, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Clara and Byron are the parents of nine children: Alan (Pamela), Dan (Jeri), Vince (Joy), Tina (David Cannon), David (Jan), Kate (Brent Cochran), Rick (Becca), Rob (Nichole), and Julie (Tim Rios). Clara taught kindergarten for one year and then devoted her time to raising a family. She enjoyed teaching her own children and affected the lives of many others with her quiet acts of kindness. Clara was an involved and dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions through the years. She was an ordinance worker in the Ogden, Palmyra, and Brigham City temples.

She served two missions with her husband. Their first was in the Kenya Nairobi Mission assigned to Kampala Uganda C.E.S., where they were able to train teachers, manage the school supplies and distribute the Perpetual Education Funds for the students in Uganda. Her love for the saints in Uganda never waned.

Their mission to Rochester New York was also rewarding as they worked to build up the Geneseo Ward and helped with two Hill Cumorah Pageants. A highlight for Clara was living in the home of her great-great-grandfather John Young in Mendon, NY.
