Maurine Snarr Naisbitt

Jan 6, 2026

June 13, 1927 — January 3, 2026

Maurine Snarr Naisbitt, 98, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2026, surrounded by loving family. She was born on June 13, 1927, the third of five children to Newell and Jessie Johnson Snarr. She was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1945 during WWII. On April 7th of that year, she vividly remembered when one of her teachers told her that her only brother, Mac was killed when his plane was shot down over Germany. One of the highlights of her life was seeing his name listed in a large, leather-bound book titled, The American Roll of Honor which was housed in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London.

She studied at the University of Utah and was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. One day, she needed a ride from Salt Lake to Ogden and asked if anyone at the Beta Fraternity house might be traveling her way. Paul Naisbitt volunteered to give her a ride and the two quickly fell in love. They were married within the year on December 16, 1949, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and spent nearly 67 happy years together.

They lived in Salt Lake City where Paul finished his medical training then moved to Missoula, Montana, Roy and Ogden where Paul practiced OB/GYN. Together they had four wonderful children, Paula, Jed, Mark and Brad.

In college, she spent several summers working at Yellowstone and doing medical research at the University of Utah; however, the most important role in Maurine’s life was being a wife, mother, and grandmother where she excelled. Nothing brought her more joy than her family. She was always happy, never spoke a bad word about anyone, enjoyed any adventure at any time, and was “tickled” with most everything in life. She was very close to her sisters and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. She especially adored being with each of her grandchildren and loved watching the great-grandchildren grow and develop. She perfected her Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and faithfully gathered the family together for her legendary holiday traditions. She led a very active life and loved to ski, golf, knit and travel. She served as president of the Primary at church, the Junior League of Ogden and the Weber County Medical Auxiliary (Alliance).

Maurine is survived by her children, Paula, Dr. Jed (Fina), Dr. Mark (Meg), and Brad (Gina); 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Paul Naisbitt; two grandsons, Cole and Zeke Naisbitt; her brother and spouse, Mac Snarr (Cleo); her sisters and their spouses, Evelyn Campbell (Don), Genial Armstrong (Ward), and Lavon East (Raymond).

The family is grateful to Paula and Tiffany Naisbitt for their outstanding loving care and compassion for Maurine for the past few years. In addition, the family expresses their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to her wonderful caregivers, Dr. Glen Biddulph, Avamere and Hidden Valley Assisted Living staff and Encompass and A Plus Homecare and Hospice.

Maurine was interred at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park. Pursuant to Maurine’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Monday, January 12 at 5 p.m. at the Lindquist Alumni Center at WSU.
