Marie Orme Gamble

1938 – 2025
Marie O. Gamble, 87, passed away on December 31, 2025, in Roy, Utah. Marie was born June 21, 1938, in Logan, Utah, the oldest child of Lincoln A. and Florence S. Orme.
Marie grew up in Preston, Idaho, and for a time in Pocatello, Idaho during World War II. She was a graduate of Preston High School and LDS Seminary and Institute. She graduated with honors from Utah State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She later received her Early Childhood Endorsement from Weber State College. She was a dedicated teacher who enjoyed helping children learn. She taught elementary school in Preston, Idaho and in Weber and Davis School Districts in Utah. She spent most of her career at South Weber Elementary and retired from teaching in 2000.
Marie married her childhood sweetheart Darrel Glen Gamble on July 14, 1961, in the Logan LDS Temple. They made their home in Preston, Idaho. In the following years they also made their home in Bancroft, Idaho; Garland, Utah; Provo, Utah; Afton, Wyoming; Hauula and Laie, Hawaii and Roy, Utah.
Marie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was an excellent homemaker, seamstress, and musician. She enjoyed playing the piano and taught piano lessons for many years. She had a beautiful soprano voice. She was a member of Bel Contos singing group and sang in many church services and community events.
Marie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully served as ward organist, in Primary music, as a Young Women’s advisor, as a Sunday School secretary, as a Relief Society President and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. She enjoyed genealogy research and authored many family histories.
She is survived by her husband, Darrel; her children, Kathryn Gamble, Evelyn (Ken) Hodges, Alan (Heather) Gamble, Julie Gamble, and Kevin (Sharilyn) Gamble, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Jane (Richard) Kennard, Kenneth (Laurie) Orme, Steven (Maxine) Orme, sister-in-law Sylvia Orme, sister-in-law Cynthia Orme and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, grandson Tyson Hodges, sister Beth (Dennis) Webster, brothers Glen (Sylvia) Orme, David (Cynthia) Orme, brother-in-law Dennis Webster and sister-in-law Bonnie (Ken) Orme.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Sunridge Assisted Living and Memory Care of Roy and Atlas Hospice for their exceptional love and care shown to our wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma. A very special thank you goes to her daughters, Kathryn and Julie, who gave many years of devoted care.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 6 to 8 pm at Myers Mortuary in Roy (5865 S 1900 W). Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Roy 9th Ward Chapel (2175 W 4250 S). Viewing at the church before the service from 9:30 to 10:30. The funeral starts at 11:00 am. Interment at Myers Evergreen Cemetery.
