Geraldine Kap

Redmond — Geraldine “Jeri” Wade Kap, 86, of Redmond, Washington, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026. Jeri was born February 7, 1939, in Pleasant View, Utah, to Mac Maycock and Fay Mayhew Wade. She married Lamar “C” Kap on July 20, 1962, in the Logan Utah Temple.
Jeri graduated from Weber High in 1957, where she served as Student Body Vice President. She stayed in close touch with her classmates for nearly 70 years. A gifted athlete and skilled horsewoman, she competed in barrel racing and served as the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo Attendant in 1960. She also performed with her three sisters in the “Wade Sisters” ensemble. Talented and enterprising, she lived briefly in Hawaii with her sister Dyan and spent summers working at the Grand Canyon Lodge North Rim, Jenny Lake Lodge, and Jackson Lake Lodge.
She attended Utah State University on a pageant scholarship and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She later earned her teaching degree from Weber State University and a pioneering master’s degree in the emerging field of Special Education from the University of Utah. Jeri worked for 26 years as a high school teacher, primarily at Weber High School, with additional time spent at Roy and Fremont High Schools. She received visits from her former students throughout the remainder of her life. In retirement, she served as an emergency foster parent for infants and toddlers in Weber County, taking in the littlest ones in their most dire need.
She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in multiple roles, including as a Temple Square Missionary after Lamar’s death. Jeri loved all she met and was loved by all who met her.
She is survived by her children, Jason (Lynette) and Natasha (Frank); her five grandchildren; and her sister, Dyan Ellebracht. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar (1998); her parents; her brother; two of her sisters; her brothers-in-law; her sisters-in-law; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Myers Mortuary. A viewing will be held Friday, January 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, Ogden. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2975 North 1000 West, Pleasant View, Utah 84414.
