Donald Lasater

Jan 9, 2026

June 23, 1951-January 2, 2026

Donald Lasater passed away at the age of 74 on January 2, 2026. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Don was born June 23, 1951 to Robert Don and Patricia (Peterson) Lasater on Hill Airforce Base. He lived the first few years of his life in Frankfurt, Germany, where his father was serving in the military. They moved back to Utah, and eventually made their home in Roy in 1963. Don was a standout athlete at Roy High School, excelling in football and baseball. He was scouted by the Los Angeles Angels out of high school as a top local prospect. However, he enlisted in the Army Reserves where he was stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, training and graduating in 1971.

Don married Connie Horspool in the Salt Lake Temple on March 1, 1974 and they began their lives together, building a home in Roy where they would raise their 5 children. Don took over his family’s business Don’s Meats, which he proudly ran until his passing.

Don had many interests, successfully completing flight training and earning his private pilot license, which he was deeply proud of. He also enjoyed travel, boating, golfing, horse racing, and softball, and treasured time spent with his family above all else.

A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he willingly served in numerous callings throughout his life.

Don was a devoted husband, father, and proud family man. He is survived by his wife, Connie Lasater (Horspool), Roy; and their five children: Holli Hensley, Roy; Lance (Beth) Lasater, West Point; Haylie (Nate) Halliday, Syracuse; Marc, Dallas; and Crystal (Thomas) Barfuss, Kaysville; who are the center of his life and his greatest legacy. His surviving siblings are Jeff Lasater, Nibley and Brad Lasater, North Ogden.

He was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren, who were his biggest joy. Some of his happiest moments were attending his grandchildren’s football games and sporting events, where he was a constant and proud supporter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Guy; and daughter, Heather.

Don was a steady presence for his family and a dependable leader to his employees, always looking out for those around him. He will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, heart of gold, and unwavering sense of responsibility. He leaves behind many customers in the community whom he truly loved serving and taking care of, along with a legacy of hard work, compassion, and love.
