Brandon Joel Kay
Brandon Joel Kay, a beloved husband, father, papa, devoted member of Covenant Grace Church, and true friend, was taken from us too soon on January 13, 2026, in his hometown of Ogden, Utah, where he was also born on March 24, 1980. Brandon’s life was a testament to his faith-filled spirit and courageous heart, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love that touched all who knew him.
Brandon was the kindest, most forgiving, and selfless man, someone who lived his faith daily through his actions. He loved the Lord with all of his heart and served God and others in every way he could. His favorite scripture, Isaiah 53:5-6, reflected the foundation of his faith and the hope he clung to throughout his life. Brandon also found great comfort in Psalm 23, trusting fully in the Lord as his shepherd.
Family was Brandon’s greatest joy. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Mandy, and a proud, present father who cherished time with his children. One of his favorite parts of the day was picking up his grandson, Tobey, from daycare and spending time with him, moments that brought him endless joy and laughter. Brandon also loved taking his sons, Donovan and Ashton, skeet shooting, creating memories filled with teaching, encouragement, and connection.
In his free time, Brandon enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing pickleball, as well as an occasional weekend getaway to Wendover. He loved being active, spending time outdoors, and simply being with those he loved. He also found great joy in playing with his beloved dachshund, Samson, whose companionship brought constant laughter and comfort, and who was also tragically lost in the incident. Whether serving at church, helping others quietly behind the scenes, or showing up faithfully for family and friends, Brandon lived a life marked by humility, generosity, and unwavering love.
Brandon was also a dedicated and hardworking employee at JD Machine, where he worked for over 20 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and integrity, forming lasting friendships and earning the respect of those he worked alongside.
Brandon is survived by his beloved wife, Mandy Kay; his children, Donovan Rogers, Mercedez Smith, and Ashton Kay; and his treasured grandson, Tobey Karsaba. He is also survived by his parents, Hank (Jean) Kay and Bonnie Adams; his siblings, Jason Kay, Matt (Cassidy) McFarland, Mandy (Wes) Shaffer; and Nik (Aaron) McFarland and Craig Rogers; his mother-in-law, Dianah Rogers; his father-in-law, Karry Rogers; his grandmother, Donna Adams; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his uncles, Joel Kay, Stacey Kay; his brother, Mason McFarland; his grandfathers, George Max Adams and Stacey Kay; his grandmother, JoAnn Kay.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leavitt’s Mortuary & Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th Street, Ogden. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m at the same location.
Though Brandon’s passing leaves an immeasurable void, his faith, love, and example will live on through all who were blessed to know him. The family is grateful for continued prayers, love, and support during this profoundly difficult season.
