Kevin Blaine Anderson

Jul 10, 2026

On the morning of his 61st birthday, on July 7, 2026, Kevin Blaine Anderson passed away at home, under the loving care of his wife Valerie. His passing was unexpected and leaves a hole in his family that can never be filled. He leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, service, and Seinfeld quotes. His life was real, and spectacular.

Born to John and Gerene Anderson on July 7, 1965, in Renton, Washington, they moved to Taylor, Utah where he grew up and attended Weber High School. He was a talented athlete where he ran track and received a scholarship to run for Weber State University. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Cape Town, South Africa. He devoted his life to serving others, taking care of those in need, and volunteering his time and talents in numerous church callings throughout his life.

While attending Weber State, he married the love of his life, Valerie Telford, on July 8, 1988, in the Ogden, Utah temple. Very rarely would you see Kevin without his eternal companion Val by his side. Kevin was a jack of all trades, working in many phases of construction throughout his life. They spent the majority of their 38-year marriage on the beloved East Bench of Ogden under beautiful Malan’s Peak. He built their dream home where they raised their three children, Kaitlyn, Hunter, and Alex John, all of whom he was immensely proud. His greatest joy was spending time around the pool with his family, their spouses, and especially his three grandsons, Ripken, Jack, and Wrigley, whom he loved most of all. His greatest title in life was “Papa”.

Growing up Kevin played every sport imaginable, fished every stream available, and hunted whatever was in season. He spent as much time outdoors as he could, camping and boating every summer, and skiing every day in winter. He spent his life passing these hobbies and traditions onto his own children, patiently teaching them everything he knew. He taught Kaitlyn how to ski at a young age and bravely sat in the passenger seat as she learned how to drive stick shift in their old Jeep. He taught Hunter the greatest lesson in life, how to throw a baseball. He spent countless hours tossing batting practice and passing on the many life lessons taught through baseball and golf. He instilled in A.J. a love for the outdoors, a reverence for nature and wildlife, and an incredibly tender spot for his hunting dogs.

He devoted his life to all of “his boys”, which includes his sons as well as the hundreds of athletes he coached throughout the years. He coached his boys all throughout little league and junior jazz and then spent many years coaching baseball and football at Ogden High School. Those that knew Kevin knew he bled blue. He would talk to anyone who would listen about the upcoming BYU football season. He even joked about having the BYU football team lower him into his grave, so they could, and I quote, “Let him down one last time”. He could be found in the backyard with Val listening to the soothing sounds of John and Suzyn calling every Yankees game. His life was filled with the sounds of sports on the tv, the laughter of his children, and dogs barking. So. Many. Dogs. His recliner might sit empty, but his presence will forever be felt in his home.

Kevin is survived by his devoted wife, Valerie, and their three children, Kaitlyn (Preston) Holley, Hunter (Rhianna) Anderson, Alex John (Becca) Anderson, and his three grandsons with one on the way. He is also survived by his parents, John and Gerene Anderson, three brothers and one sister, Craig (Collett) Anderson, Jay Anderson, Jackie (Richard) Stewart, and Doug (Lynette) Anderson.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 6-8 pm at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden, and on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 9:30-10:30 am at the Ogden Stake Center, 2115 Jefferson Ave. Ogden. A celebration of Kevin’s life will follow on Saturday at 11 am at the church.
