Marian Hollingsworth

Jul 22, 2026

Marian Golder Hollingsworth Heaven welcomed home our dear, sweet wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Marian Golder Hollingsworth, age 89, of North Ogden, Utah, who passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and eight children, with family on both sides of the veil. Marian was born on November 18, 1936, in Menan, Idaho, to Ralph Hill and Elizabeth Gray Golder. Marian grew up in Menan, Idaho, where she loved being outdoors and playing softball. However, what she loved most was reading, which filled her life with knowledge and a lifelong love of learning. She graduated in the top five of her class from Rigby High School in 1954. Following graduation, Marian was recruited to play for the semi-professional softball team, the Rockettes. She attended Ricks College, where she met her eternal companion, L. Gyle Hollingsworth. They were married for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 25, 1958. Marian was a devoted wife and mother. Following the heartbreaking loss of her first three children, she lovingly raised a family of five. In 1973, the family made their home in North Ogden, where Marian created a warm and welcoming home she loved decorating. Her children will always remember her sweet tooth and the candy she carefully hid away in closets, hoping to keep it out of their reach. Marian was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings throughout her life, but her greatest joy came from serving alongside her husband in seven full-time missions. Together, they devoted 15 years to sharing their love of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Marian is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, L. Gyle Hollingsworth; her children, Annette (Jeff) Edwards, Suzanne (Shawn) Jensen, and Brent Hollingsworth; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her brother, Ray Golder; and two sisters-in-law, LaRee Golder and Barbara Golder. She was preceded in death by her five children, Ralph LaVern, Marian, Ann, Kathleen, and Roger Gyle, her parents; her sisters, Rachel Elaine, Dorothy, and Irene; her brothers, Ralph and Steven. Marian’s favorite quote is: “Life’s quite the journey.” Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the North Ogden 9th Ward Chapel, 205 E. Elberta Dr., North Ogden. A viewing will be held at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Ogden from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening, and from 9:30- 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at 3 pm at the Preston City Cemetery in Preston, Idaho.
