Porter Tex Holmes

Jul 22, 2026

Porter Tex Holmes, 18, of Plain City, Utah, passed away peacefully on July 19th, 2026. At Primary Children’s Hospital, surrounded by his family after beating Leukemia and battling an infection.

Porter was born on December 10th, 2007, in Ogden, Utah. The youngest son of Grant and Johanne Holmes. Porter was diagnosed at an early age with Dravet Syndrome, which left him experiencing catastrophic seizures throughout his life. Porter rarely let his disability get him down. You could always find Porter with a Lightning McQueen or Thomas the Train toy in hand or stashed in his infamous backpack full of goodies! Porter loved going to school. He had many friends and teachers who adored him. Porter would talk nonstop about his teacher, Ryan (Owen)!

Porter was a true social butterfly, always talking and laughing with everyone. He never struggled to make friends wherever he went. Every person Porter met became special, and their light became brighter from their interactions with him. His smile, kindness, laughter, and pure joy had a way of bringing people together.

Porter showed the world that love doesn’t need words to be felt or heard, and that a beautiful soul can make an extraordinary impact on the lives around them. Despite all the challenges that Porter faced, his spirit and positive attitude never failed. He truly endured to the end. His memory will continue to shine. Porter is survived by his parents, Grant and Johanne, his brothers Joshua, Bridger, and Kord. His Grandmother, Linda Holmes, and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Porter is preceded in death by his Grandparents Sybil and Art Cude, Grant Holmes Sr., Uncles Brent Cude and Karl Robinson. Cousins Jacob Cornia and Vera Holmes.

The family extends sincere appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Anne Baranko, Dr. Frances Filloux, Dr. Matthew Sweeny, Dr. Kelly Parker, and all the Drs. and staff on the Pediatric Hematology, Oncology team. Also, special thanks to Life Flight and Respiratory teams throughout the years. The Dr’s, Nurses, and staff on the ICS and PICU floor for taking exceptional care of Porter.
