LaRee Nielsen Weaver Hancock

Jul 27, 2026

July 22, 1926 — July 23, 2026

LaRee, 100 and a day, died on July 23, 2026, at her home surrounded by love from near and far. She was born July 22, 1926, in Hyrum, Utah, the first of seven children to LaVere C. and Luella Erikson Nielsen. She graduated from South Cache High School in Hyrum, Utah in 1944. In 1946 she married Norman E. Weaver, with whom she had two daughters. They later divorced. In 1964 she married Douglas E. Hancock. They shared 62 years together before his passing just four months before hers. She spent her working life as a seamstress, creating clothes for many friends and family in the Ogden area. She loved to travel by car, especially to Hood River, Las Vegas, and Northern California. She was an avid fan of the Utah Jazz and waited as long as she could for them to win a championship. She had a fabulous, dry sense of humor, unbeknownst to her.

LaRee is survived by her daughters, Marsha Dearden and Kandace Weaver; three granddaughters; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and her youngest sister, Karen Ashliman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, her parents, five of her six siblings, stepdaughter, Tracy; and granddaughter, Nikisha.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 11a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

The family would like to thank the many family members, friends and neighbors for the care and love they provided to LaRee.

LaRee — making the world a better place since 1926.
