Kenna Mae Anthon Walton, age 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1943, in Provo, Utah, to Mina Pearl Riding Anthon and Kenneth Sterling Anthon.

As a young girl, Kenna learned the value of hard work and service. She lovingly helped care for her two younger brothers while her mother worked nights at a local restaurant. In Provo, she grew up near the Despain family and Kathy Despain Bush, who would become one of her lifelong friends.

On February 6, 1960, Kenna went on what would become both her first and last blind date. There she met Alexander “Al” Walton, a student at Brigham Young University from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. Their first date was memorable from the start. Both had other dates planned later that day, but Kenna missed hers. As Al hurried off to his, he asked if he could see her again the next day. They spent the next three days together, and whenever they couldn’t be together, they talked on the phone. On June 6 1961, during Kenna’s senior year at Provo High School, Al proposed with a diamond ring.

Kenna and Al were married on May 18, 1962, in the Salt Lake temple, beginning a beautiful partnership that lasted 62 wonderful years.

The early years of their marriage were spent in Provo, allowing Al to graduate from BYU. During this time Kenna raised their first couple of children while baking in a local bakery. Her baking and breadmaking was a lifelong talent she shared with everyone around her.

Kenna Mae and Al built their house in South Ogden and together they enjoyed vacations visiting family in Canada and coaching their kids in soccer. They were hosts to neighborhood kids playing ping pong, billiards, and swimming in the pool. Most importantly they raised their seven children.

She was also an adopted ‘grandma’ to many other children as she provided day care to many families over the years. She loved telling memorable, imaginative stories to the children and could always draw a cartoon character from memory for their entertainment.

Kenna also found great joy in life by raising various pets and beloved companion dogs through the years. She served friends and neighbors through her many callings as a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was very proud to have been able to serve alongside Al as a service missionary in the Family History Center in Salt Lake City.

Kenna will be remembered for her steadfast devotion to Al and her children and her love will continue through the generations of family she cherished so deeply.

Kenna is survived by her brothers, Robert (Glenda) Anthon and Larry (Susan) Anthon; her children, Allen (Lorianne Mayhew) Walton, Shanna (Brad) Vaughn, Clark (Jennifer Alder) Walton, Valerie (Wayne) Tesch, Julie (Blaine) Smith, Chad (Lisa Hunter) Walton and Alenna Miller; 26 grandchildren; and 10 plus great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alexander Walton; her granddaughter, Emily Ann Walton; and her parents, Mina Pearl Riding Anthon and Kenneth Sterling Anthon.

A Family Gathering will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
