Robert Steven Flowers

Jun 1, 2026

October 26, 1929 — May 26, 2026

Robert Steven Flowers, 96, of Riverdale, Utah passed away quietly after a wonderful long life. Bob was born on October 26, 1929, and spent his early years with his parents Steven and Irene Flowers. He was raised in the once famous “Little Hungary” neighborhood on Buckeye Road in Cleveland, Ohio. After graduating from high school,

Bob enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at several different places including Utah in which he became very fond of. After completing his time in the service, he returned to Utah and eventually pursued a government career at Hill Air Force Base. In 1989 his job took him and his family to Okinawa, Japan for several years before returning home and retiring to start a second career as a greens superintendent.

In 1964 he met Aiko Kawaguchi and they were married for 61 cherished years. Together they had two daughters, Kim and Candace. He also had two children from a previous marriage Shelley and Bobby. Bob and Aiko built a life around their daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always supporting and enjoying whatever activities they were involved in.

Bob spent many of his days on the golf course, mowing the greens and playing endless rounds of golf. He once said, “there is no better sight than the early morning sun coming up on the greens.” He loved taking family vacations, golf trips with the guys, organizing his tool bench, being a host family to many Japanese exchange students, having family game nights and of course taking care of his loyal dogs, Coco and Bebe.

Bob lived his life much like the game of golf that he loved so much. As an only child he stepped up to the tee box, took a swing and began his journey. Along the way he walked the fairways surrounding himself with great family and enjoying many friends.

He was always there to lend a hand or help someone out of the roughs. Finally, when he reached that golden time of life, he was able to slow down, reflect and read the greens. What a remarkable round you played! We love you and you will forever be in our hearts!

Bob is survived by his wife, Aiko Kawaguchi Flowers; daughter, Shelley (Howard, deceased) Anderson; daughter, Kim (Jayson) Blandi; daughter, Candace (Billy) Zumbrun; grandchildren, Shyanne (Brenton) Sharpe, Cy Zumbrun, Tamie (David) Moses, Bryan Anderson, Brooke (Dave) Terry, and Brett Anderson; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and his son, Bobby.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the healthcare professionals who took such excellent care of Bob. Special thanks to Shelby Pitts, Nate Gravin, Mary Draper along with her staff and Ronal and Rylee from Atlas Home Healthcare. Lastly, his sister-in-law Mitzi who was there every day to support and run errands for us.
