Norma “Dee” Zundel Torgeson
Willard – Norma “Dee” Zundel Torgeson, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on May 27, 2026, at Maple Springs Lighthouse.
Dee was born on October 13, 1939, in Moab, Utah to Stephen U. Zundel and Ethel Ruth Myers. She married Roy R. Torgeson on November 10, 1956, in Twin Falls, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple on April 18, 1981, along with their son Brian. Dee was the primary president while her son, Brian, was in primary.
Together they raised their four children in Willard. Dee worked at the Perry Branch of America First Credit Union where she met a lot of good people and lifelong friends. She started her banking career many years earlier in Layton.
She worked at Hill Air Force Base as a computer programmer before retiring on a medical disability. Prior to that she ran the Auger Inn at Ogden Airport where she enjoyed cooking. It was there that Roy became interested in flying. They would at times slip away to Wendover for Lunch. Later, it seemed Wendover became her get away place. Those handles fit her hands perfectly.
She loved painting. She was a masterful, self-taught artist and painter, creating several wonderful pieces of art. She was honored when her dream was fulfilled at her own Art Show at the Brigham City Senior Center in 2025, courtesy of Tom Sherlock with Ascend Home Health and Hospice Care.
She loved gardening and cooking, but most of all she loved her family and her family loved her. Dee is preceded in death by her husband – Roy, her parents – Steve and Ethel, son – Jerry, daughter – Sandy, and a grandson – TJ Ormond. She is survived by a daughter – Ruth (Ken) Norma “Dee” Zundel Torgeson Ormond, a son – Brian, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express appreciation to Ascend Home Health and Hospice Care particularly, Jodie, and to the amazing staff of good people at Maple Springs and especially at the Lighthouse.
