Paul Herrera

Jun 9, 2026

Our hearts are heavy as we bid farewell to Paul A. Herrera, known affectionately as “Papa” by his loved ones. Born on October 5, 1963, in Ogden, Utah, Paul passed away on June 5, 2026. A compassionate, loving, and loyal man, Paul left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched. He was a beacon of joy, always ready with a funny quip to lighten the mood. His love for life was infectious and his spirit was simply captivating. As the saying goes, “The purpose of life is to be compassionate, and know that you have lived and lived well.”

Paul was a dedicated laborer in many different fields. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he took great pride in his profession. Outside of work, Paul had an array of hobbies that showcased his vibrant character. Whether it was helping others, skiing, swimming, camping, or listening to loud music, Paul lived his life to the fullest. He held an Associate’s degree in Diesel Mechanics, was EMS trained, and was a proud member of the AA and NA communities, celebrating 27 years of sobriety – an accomplishment he wore as a badge of honor.

Family always came first for Paul. He deeply loved his wife and high school sweetheart Theresa, whom he married on March 9, 1984. His children, Brandi (Hendrik) and Paul (Kadee), are his pride and joy. His grandchildren, Michael, Gabrielle, Maelyn, Piper, and Brooklyn also brought a light and purpose to his life. He is survived by his mother Juanita Poole, brothers Jaime, Steven, Andre, Tim, and Aaron. He was preceded in death by his dads, Joey Herrera and Steve Poole, Grandfather Joe Herrera, Grandmothers Bea Herrera and Juana Oliveras. His four-legged companions held a special place in his heart, as he was a true animal lover. Paul’s love, loyalty, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

We invite you to share your fond memories of Paul, upload photos, and celebrate his life on his memorial page. As we remember him, let us be guided by the Serenity Prayer: “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.” Let us celebrate Paul’s life by living our own with the compassion, humor, and love he demonstrated throughout his.
