Amy Moss Montoya

Jun 16, 2026

1971 — 2026

After a long battle with multiple chronic health conditions, compounding to lung failure, Amy Moss Montoya returned to her loving Heavenly Father on June 11, 2026, at the age of 54. She passed away peacefully in her Layton home, surrounded by her loved ones. She fought valiantly in the final years of her life, cheerfully and faithfully enduring to the end.

Amy was born on December 14, 1971, in Ogden, Utah, the third daughter of William R. Moss and Athleen Johnson. She was raised in Layton, Utah, and graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1990. On June 29, 2002, she was sealed to her eternal companion, Jared Montoya in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they built a loving home in Layton and raised six beautiful children including quadruplets, two of which had severe complex medical conditions.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amy’s deep faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. Her greatest joy was being a wife and mother, cheerfully building a loving home and supporting her husband, children, parents, and siblings unconditionally.

Amy had a passion for creating meaningful family traditions and making every holiday special. She was a talented cook, a crafter, and a beautiful singer. A lover of stories and travel, she cherished planning memorable vacations, particularly to Disney parks.

Amy was preceded in death by her children, Leah Montoya and William Montoya; her mother, Athleen Johnson; her father-in-law, George Montoya; and her granddaughter, Gemma Arave.

She is survived by her husband, Jared Montoya; children, Caleb (Kadee) Arave, Elizabeth Montoya, Joseph Montoya, and Sarah Montoya; father, William (Ann) Moss; mother-in-law; Blanca Montoya; siblings, Tamara (Doug) Roberts, Jeni (Robert) Ringler, Stacy (Wade) Henderson, Jeanette (Don) White, Neal (Kaye) Moss; brother-in-law, Aaron Montoya; as well as 40 nieces and nephews and 24 great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to family, friends, church members, care teams, and all who prayed, fasted, served, and supported Amy and her family over the years. Your love, faith, and kindness will not be forgotten.
