Michael Neary

Jun 22, 2026

February 22, 1953 – June 14, 2026

Ogden — Michael “Mike” Neary was born in Denver, Colorado, to Joe and Betty Neary. He spent his early years in the Denver area surrounded by a large and loving family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

As the oldest of four children, Mike helped pave the way for his younger siblings. In 1967, he moved with his family to Utah, where he attended Bonneville High School and built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and devotion to family.

Mike enjoyed a long and honorable career as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad. His dedication to the railroad and those he worked alongside earned him the respect of many throughout his career.

Mike and his wife, Wendy M., were married on May 7, 1999. Together they built a beautiful home in Willard, Utah, where they raised their daughter, Tristen. Being a father was one of Mike’s greatest joys. He spent countless days sharing the things he loved most–golfing, skiing, fishing, and cheering on the Denver Broncos. While he occasionally enjoyed a beer with friends, his daughter fondly remembers the Shirley Temples he would order just for her.

Anyone who knew Mike knew his quick wit and wicked sense of humor. He had a gift for making people laugh and a way of bringing warmth to those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Neary.

He is survived by his wife, Wendy; his daughter, Tristen, and her husband, Zack; his beloved grandchildren, Rafe and Kai; his siblings, Michele (John) Lukes, Marty (Shannon) Neary, and Mary Jo (Buck) Finley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.

The lessons he taught his daughter, will continue to live on through her and his grandchildren.

Starting at $4.32/week.
