David Arthur Young of Ogden, Utah passed away on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026, at age 85. Son of Helen and Howard “Happy” Young, he grew up among America’s national parks, a childhood that gave him a lifelong love of the outdoors. He graduated from Utah State University in 1963, earning Student of the Year, and built a distinguished career in healthcare — co-founding Associates of Pathology in 1966 and consulting for labs and hospitals worldwide until his retirement in 2016. David was a pilot, ski patroller, Mountain Rescue volunteer, and backpacker who traveled the world with his wife Kay. He is survived by his daughters Candace Young (Valerie Ireland) and Kerry Young (John Barnhill); grandchildren Zoe Schell, Max Barnhill, and Emily Barnhill; companion Salli; and his cat Tugger. The family thanks the caregivers at Inspiration Hospice, the Terrace Transitional, and Treeo South Ogden.
