Laura May Meacham Izatt

Laura May Meacham Izatt, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend -87 of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 24th, 2026. She was born March 11, 1939, in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Clarence and Genevive Puttnam Meacham.

Laura graduated from Davis High School in 1957 and married Quhid Holbrook Izatt on August 28, 1958 in the Salt Lake City LDS temple. They shared a devoted life together raising their 5 living children, of whom are her greatest loves, treasure and legacy.

Laura was a lifelong and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Laura served faithfully in many callings, loved temple work and volunteered throughout her life. After her husband’s death, she served an LDS mission to Boston, Massachusetts. While serving, her father passed away. With faith and conviction, she chose to remain on her mission, knowing he would want her to continue serving the Lord. Upon returning from her mission, she lovingly cared for her mother for 5 ½ years until her passing.

Laura worked for the IRS for many years and was a trusted, steady presence in her community. She also supported her husband’s Christmas business, “Sant’s North Pole Headquarters”. Joyfully portraying Mrs. Claus and dressing her children as elves.

Laura was a talented homemaker; she crocheted over 200 afghans, enjoyed cooking and baking and spent many years in a local bowling league. Her life was defined by service, creativity and unwavering love of her family.

Laura is survived by her children: Alex Quhid (Debra) Izatt, Armondo Kelly (Robin) Izatt, Darcy Ben Izatt, Jenai Marie (Daryl) Watts & Delwyn Rusty Izatt. Siblings Russell Meacham, Melba Ortiz & Mary Taylor.

She was preceded in death- by her daughter Zelda May Izatt, her husband Quhid Holbrook Izatt, her parents, brother Walt Meacham and sisters Colleen Grant and Martha Parker.

Laura has 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Laura’s legacy of faith, service, devotion and love will be cherished by all who knew her.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 1st 2026, at 11 am at Lindquist Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road in Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday, June 30th from 6-8 pm, and on Wednesday prior to the services, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the mortuary.
