William Abraham Van Hulten

Mar 5, 2026

William Abraham Van Hulten, finally got his ticket to the other side on March 1, 2026.

William (Bill) was born in Dordrecht, Netherlands on June 25, 1939, to Peter and Christina Van Hulten. Bill and his family immigrated to the United States and arrived at the Union Station in Ogden on December 5, 1947. He graduated from Weber High in 1958 and got his U.S. Citizenship the very next day.

He was sealed to Carole Darlene Peterson on March 24, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. Bill was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout the years he held many church positions. Bill had a deep love for the Savior and an intimate knowledge of the gospel.

Bill held many positions in the Weber County School District maintenance department, retiring after 30 years of service. Throughout his career he also served on city council. To this date sitting at Plain City hall is a conference table that he handcrafted. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, and creating lasting pieces with his hands that reflected his patience and craftsmanship.

He had a deep love for ranching and took great pride in the land and livestock he cared for throughout his life. Hunting was more than a pastime: it was a lifelong passion that brought him peace, adventure, and many cherished memories.

He was the Dutchman. He was a husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa.

Later on in life he found companionship with Willa Hurd and they married in the Ogden Temple and were together many years.

He is survived by his children: Tammy (Dan) Perkins, Christine (Boyd Wellard) Verburg, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and also many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, son; Michael, and sister, Minnie Whitaker.

We would like to express our gratitude and thanks to the wonderful people at Pine View Transitional Rehab and Aspen Ridge Hospice. Also a special thanks to the Northern Utah Cardiovascular Associates team.
