Charles “Chuck” Gordon Carr Jr

May 28, 1942 ~ February 16, 2026
Charles “Chuck” Gordon Carr Jr., 83, passed peacefully in his sleep on February 16, 2026, after dealing with years of Parkinson’s disease. He was born on May 28, 1942, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Agnes Marie (Dobbs) Carr and Charles Gordon Carr Sr.
Chuck will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, dry wit, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. His strength of character was especially evident after his wife Kathy’s automobile accident in 2002, which resulted in partial paralysis.
Chuck was raised by his mother in Colorado Springs, CO, where he graduated high school and went on to graduate in 1964 from Western State College in Gunnison, CO. Shortly after Chuck was drafted for Vietnam, proudly serving as a counterintelligence specialist, earning a battlefield commission. After returning home, while stationed at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, Chuck met the love of his life, Kathleen Mary (Kmiec). They were soon married at the Post Chapel on March 22, 1969.
After leaving military service they returned to Colorado to raise a family for the next 8 years. In 1978 they moved to Utah to start a Frontier Insurance Adjusters franchise in S. Ogden, where they built a business and a lifelong home and community. Their passions were golf, soccer, and skiing. They were longtime members of the Ogden Golf and Country Club where lasting friendships were formed; they were dedicated Snowbasin skiers, starting with Chuck joining the Snowbasin Volunteer Ski Patrol in 1979; and Chuck was active in the soccer community as coach and experienced high school/college-level referee.
Chuck is survived by his sons, Mike (Noelle Briand) and Jeremy (Michael Quimby); his cherished grandchildren, MacKenzie and Logan; and extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen; and his parents.
The family would like to thank the many staff and health care professionals who have helped over the past two and half years: Treeo Senior Living and Fairfield Village Assisted Living. Particularly we’d like to highlight the affection and care from the CNAs at Avamere at Mountain Ridge, the kindness and understanding of the entire admin and healthcare team at Fairfield Village Memory Care and lastly the A-Plus Hospice team’s focused care allowing our dad dignity and peace in his final weeks.
A celebration of life will be held in late spring/early summer to allow out of town family and friends to attend. Interment for close family will be held after at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., South Ogden.
