Arthello Clair Cheney
Arthello Clair Cheney was born June 8, 1942, in Logan, UT, to Vara George Cheney and Afton Kendall.
He met Bonnie Gleed at a dance when he was 15, he knew that day that he wanted to marry her, and so he did on November 11th 1960. Together they raised seven children, most of the time in Roy Utah.
He passed away on March 4, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Known for his humor, resilience, and work ethic, Arthello was very social and enjoyed talking with everyone. His life was defined by his hard work, both in his professional career as a Fireman, a Locomotive Engineer and a Drywall contractor. And in his personal endeavors as an inventor, creating the Magic Mudder texturing tool.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Arthello was always the last to leave church on Sunday, he enjoyed serving as a Scout Master, Ward mission leader, and as a Service missionary at the Conference Center.
Arthello was predeceased by his wife, Bonnie Gleed Cheney, his parents, Vara and Afton Cheney, one grandchild and one great grandchild.
Surviving are his children, Clayton (Lorna) Cheney, Joan (Mark) Bradford, Milo Don Talon, Diane (John) Sorenson, Thomas Cheney, John (Julie) Cheney, and Carmen Cheney, 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. Arthello lived a life filled with family, laughter, and accomplishment, and he is now reunited with his beloved wife.
Bonnie died of cancer on March 29th 2010. He married Judy Somerville in 2012.
The family is so grateful for the incredible care he received from Symbii and Ovation Hospice, especially Marcie. The staff at the Legacy House of Ogden are amazing and very kind, we thank them so much.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing for Arthello on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 3:30 pm at Myers Mortuary – Roy, located at 5865 S. 1900 W., Roy, Utah, 84067. A second viewing will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 9:00 am at West Point 13th Ward, 3290 West 800 North, West Point, Utah, 84015. This will be followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. The interment will be in Bloomington, Idaho.
