Lorraine Lund
Lorraine Lund, age 91, peacefully passed away in Ogden, Utah, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Born Lorraine Baldwin on August 26, 1934, in Lebanon, Oregon, she was the loved and adored daughter of Norman and Hazel Baldwin. Her early life was marked by frequent moves throughout the American Southwest due to her father’s work with the Army Corps of Engineers, allowing her to form cherished friendships and lasting memories in places such as New Mexico and Southern California. In 1946, her family returned to Lebanon, Oregon, where Lorraine was surrounded by an extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
During her high school years in Lebanon, Lorraine was active and engaged, serving as a Delegate to Girls State, a Yell Leader, and a member of both the Class Executive Council and Student Council, among other pursuits. She continued her education at Oregon State College, where she met Wally Lund. The couple married on June 13, 1954, in Lebanon, Oregon, and were later sealed in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 22, 1960. Their enduring partnership spanned over 70 years until Wally’s passing in November 2024.
Lorraine followed where ever Wally’s teaching career took them, leading them to reside in Crescent City, California; North Bend, Oregon; and ultimately Ogden, Utah. Known for her outgoing spirit, energy, organization, and optimism, Lorraine devoted herself tirelessly to serving those around her. She held numerous leadership roles within the Relief Society, including Stake Relief Society President in Oregon, which required extensive travel to support multiple wards and branches along the southern Oregon coast- usually with five children in tow. Throughout her life, Lorraine actively served in various capacities such as Relief Society Presidencies, Primary Presidencies, early morning Seminary teacher, and as a Relief Society and Primary teacher. For many years, she and Wally also dedicated themselves as temple workers at the Ogden Utah temple. Additionally, Lorraine worked for many years at the Farmerás Insurance claims office, where she valued the friendships she formed.
Lorraine’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her five children: Sally (Paul) Boberg of Tennessee; Chris (Carrie Lee) of Clearfield; Diane of South Ogden; John (Carrie Jane) of Houston, Texas; and Pete (Sherri) of South Jordan. She also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, Wally; her brother Edwin; and her parents.
Lorraine leaves a legacy of a life exemplified by kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith. She consistently saw the best in others, offering help and support quietly and generously, often reaching out to those who felt alone or uncertain. Her vibrant enthusiasm for life remains an inspiration to all who knew her.
