Gilbert Archuleta

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, Gilbert “Archie” Agapito Archuleta, age 91. Affectionately known as “Archie,” Gilbert passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Mexico and was a lifelong resident of Ogden, Utah.

Gilbert will be remembered for his unwavering faith, incredible sense of humor, gift for storytelling, and deep love for his family. His soul thrived in the Uinta Mountains. He had a passion for gardening and grew award-winning tomatoes. He was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and loved John Wayne movies.

Gilbert was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church, where his faith was the cornerstone of his life.

After 45 years of dedicated service, Gilbert retired from the Defense Depot of Ogden.

On September 22, 1964, he married the love of his life, Wilma Ellen Reed, in Ogden, Utah. They were married for 49 magical years.

He is survived by his six children: Gilbert Archuleta, Paige Reed, Vicky Archuleta, Kevin Archuleta, Lisa Jaramillo, and Reed Archuleta; six grandchildren: Chanel Ulrich, Rachel Fontenot, Madison Archuleta, Carter Archuleta, Elizabeth Archuleta, Alexander Archuleta, and Eric Archuleta; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Emily Chavez.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wilma Ellen Archuleta; his father, Juan Archuleta; his mother, Jesusita Archuleta; his brothers, Joe and Richard Archuleta; and his sister, Linda Korn.

Gilbert’s life was a testament to the beauty of family and the joy of laughter. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who love him.

He will be laid to rest beside the love of his life at Ogden Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 from 6-8 PM, at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd, Ogden, UT 84404, with a Rosary taking place at 7:30pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 6th, 2026 at St. James Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Boulevard, Ogden, Utah.
