She was born in Liberty, Utah, on November 2, 1937; the youngest of four children born to Geneva M. Deem and Raymond H. Ward. The family moved to Harrisville in 1948. She later built a house next door to her parents and remained there until her health didn’t allow it any longer.

As a young woman, she played the piano and organ for church and other cultural events. She worked at Samuel’s Department Store for a time.

She married in 1959 and soon became Mom to Randy and later to Jason.

She worked at Defense Depot Ogden for a few years. After her divorce she went to work for Strong Volkswagen Company in Ogden. She made many friends and had many happy memories there.

Her friend “Dotty” introduced her to the love of her life, Eddie Stegen. They married on June 23, 1977, in Las Vegas. She worked with him, as his “bookie” (bookkeeper), at Stegen Auto Parts until they retired and closed the store in 2007. They thoroughly enjoyed each other’s company and were rarely apart. They enjoyed many road trips together; she didn’t like to fly.

After retirement, Carma took care of Eddie at home until his passing May 5, 2011.

She loved going to Wendover, although she would never tell you how much she lost, to bring home what she won. She loved the Golden Girls on TV, beer in a frosted glass, clothes, shoes, jewelry and makeup. Her social life consisted of getting her hair and nails done, shopping and spoiling her many cats. She stayed up on current events via the Enquirer and Fox News.

The family wishes to thank her daughter-in-law, Laura, for her tireless efforts and care of Carma during her illness.

Carma is survived by her children; Randy Flinn (Toni) and Jason Flinn (Laura), 4 granddaughters and their partners, 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Ivan Ward & Joy Ward and sister Lena Mantlo.

Friends and family may call Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd. Graveside will be held Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
