Shirley Irene Holmgren Meldrum
March 5, 1933 — May 17, 2026
Shirley Irene Holmgren Meldrum passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on March 5, 1933, in Tremonton, Utah, to Delbert Kenneth Holmgren and Elaine Hokanson. She grew up with a deep love for her family, the land, and the simple joys of country life, and she carried those values with her throughout her life. As a young girl, she spent her summers cooking for her father’s ranch hands, a responsibility she fulfilled with care and dedication. She was honored twice as Rodeo Queen at the Box Elder County Rodeo and was named first attendant at the Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo, accomplishments that reflected both her grace and spirited nature. Her love of farm life and the cherished memories of her childhood remained close to her heart throughout her life.
On June 1, 1951, Shirley married Dallas Eugene Meldrum, and their marriage was later solemnized on February 21, 1958, in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Shirley was a devoted homemaker whose strength, kindness, and steady presence blessed her home and all who entered it. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shirley served faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including a service mission, and especially loved serving in the temple.
Shirley had three brothers, Kenneth, Steve, and Jim, and two sisters, Holley and Diane. She was the loving mother of Jay Meldrum (Jodene), Mark Meldrum, Michael Meldrum, Kristine Condie (Mike), and Wendy Connors (Steve). She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas; her brothers Kenneth and Steve; and her son, Michael. Her posterity was one of her greatest joys. She leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Shirley will be remembered for her devotion to family, her willing service, her enduring faith, and the warmth and love she so freely shared. Her life was a beautiful legacy that will continue to bless her family for generations to come.
