OGDEN, UTAH — Daniel Ray Hoff, a proud Special Forces veteran, devoted family man, and beloved community member, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family.

Daniel was born in Long Beach, California, on October 13, 1949, Daniel was the cherished son of the late Richard and Norma Hoff. He later moved to Utah, where he established his roots, built a beautiful life, and proudly called the state his home.

On May 8, 1971, Daniel married Sandra Carver, and though they later divorced. On February 15, 1985, Daniel married the absolute love of his life, Elaine Hoff, in Ogden, Utah. Together, Daniel and Elaine shared 27 wonderful, laughter-filled years of marriage, building a legacy of love, commitment, and mutual devotion that remains an inspiration to their family.

Daniel served his country with profound honor, distinction, and an unwavering commitment to the nation’s defense. His military journey began with the United States Air Force, serving from April 1969 to April 1973, where he was assigned to the 2952nd Combat Logistics Support Squadron (CLSS).

Following his Air Force service, Daniel’s patriotism led him to join the US Army Utah National Guard, serving with the prestigious 19th Special Forces Group (Green Beret), where his dedication and leadership earned him a promotion within a Special Forces Operational Detachment (SFOD). He also went on to serve honorably with the US Army Reserve’s 145th Field Artillery, ultimately retiring after 20 years of decorated and impeccable military service. His courage, discipline, and many awards and accolades were hallmarks of his military career.

After retiring from uniform, Daniel continued his dedication to his country as a civilian. He enjoyed a long and highly successful career as an Equipment Specialist at Hill Air Force Base, serving for many years before his retirement.

Daniel was a man who embraced life with open arms, finding his greatest happiness in nature, community, and the simple joys of life. An avid outdoorsman, he loved camping and fishing in the beautiful Utah landscape. He served his community as a member of the Ski Patrol and was deeply involved in supporting youth development through the Boy Scouts of America.

Daniel was also a lifelong sports enthusiast. He loved playing baseball and softball, and during the autumn months, he could always be found enthusiastically cheering on his beloved Denver Broncos.

Above all, Daniel’s greatest treasure was his family. He loved nothing more than gathering with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, passing down stories of adventure, sharing his wonderful sense of humor, and surrounding them with his immense strength and warmth.

Daniel’s legacy of service, love, and adventure will live on through the family he adored. He is survived by:

Children: Kurtis Ray Hoff (Rachel), Stacy Ann Pixton (Clay), Angie Giles (Darin), and Randee Lin Lindgren.

Grandchildren: 17 beloved grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren: 13 cherished great-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Hoff; his son, Ryan Jimmy Coy; and his parents, Richard and Norma Hoff.
