Macie Marie Haskin
May 29, 2012 — October 26, 2026
Hooper, Utah
Macie Marie Haskin, age 14, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend, returned to live with our Heavenly Father on October 26, 2026, at her home in Hooper, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 29, 2012, at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah and spent her entire life in Hooper. She passed away from diffuse midline thalamic glioma.
Macie was a fun-loving, kind, genuine, silly, beautiful girl. She made friends with anyone, regardless of their age or background. Her big, beautiful smile, bright hazel eyes, fingernail-tapping ASMR, sharp one-liners, affectionate eyebrow raises, and puckered air kisses were her trademarks. She played soccer, piano, tumbling, and gymnastics. She loved to make “get ready with me” videos and sharing Marco Polo’s with friends and cousins. She had a passion and talent for doing nails. She was an adventurous girl and loved swimming, dancing, paddleboarding, roller blading, riding horses, and adored campfire nights with her dear friends.
She was her mom’s best friend and daddy’s girl. She loved girl time with her mom doing nails and movie nights. She had her daddy’s eyes, loved to dance with him in the kitchen, and held his hand everywhere they went. She was a peace maker and reminded her dad to be kind to her mom and once told him to “rizz her up” and “give her a big, juicy kiss”. She looked up to her big brother Payden and enjoyed adventures like snowboarding and cliff jumping with him. She shared a special bond with her little brother Vance, and enjoyed playing store, building Legos, forts, and snowmen.
Macie attended Hooper Elementary (K-6) and was in her 9th grade year at Rocky Mountain Junior High (7-9). She loved school, her friends, teachers, and office staff. She also loved seminary with her friends. Macie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ and eternal families. Macie dreamed of becoming a pediatric oncology nurse, a K-9 police officer, and most of all, a mother with children of her own.
On August 26, 2025, Macie was diagnosed with Diffuse Midline Thalamic Glioma. Over 14 months, she endured two brain surgeries, two rounds of radiation, months of treatment, pokes, scans, and doctor appointments. Through it all, she NEVER complained. She continued with her beaming smile, and showed how strong and tough she was. She shared heartfelt compliments, loved bantering with her medical team and developed genuine relationships. One of her final selfless gifts was donating tumor tissue for medical research in the hope of helping others.
Macie is survived by her loving father, Nicholas Lee Haskin; her devoted mother, Erica Marie Haskin; her big brother Payden Lee Haskin and little brother Vance William Haskin. She is also survived by her grandparents, Ida and John Craner, Fred and Debbie Haskin, Mike Browning, Christine and Brent Christoffersen. She leaves behind aunts and uncles Nathan and Danielle Haskin and their children, Zoie, Rockston, Daxin, and Ezrie; Stephanie and Ethan Hull and their children, Zachery, Scott, Cheyenne, and Hailey; Monica and Sosaia Taumoefolau, and Tabitha Awbrey, along with many loved step-aunts, step-uncles, step cousins, extended family, and numerous beautiful, loyal, and caring friends.
We extend heartfelt thanks for everyone who supported Macie and our family with love, kindness, and generosity during her life and these last 14 challenging months. We are especially grateful to the medical providers, Huntsman Cancer Institute, Primary Children’s, and everyone who helped care for her and loved her as the bright soul she was.
Macie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her 14 years were filled with beauty, adventure, courage, laughter, and love for those around her. She lived fully in her 14 years leaving us with precious memories, stories, and snapshots of her life that will be treasured forever. Her love lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
